Vala Sciences IC200
The Vala Sciences IC200 is a Kinetic Image Cytometer (KIC) — a high-speed video microscopy instrument for single-cell analysis of fast cellular activity. Revolution drives the top-load configuration, which is the variant designed for a robot to load from above.
About the instrument
Section titled “About the instrument”Vala Sciences describes the IC200-KIC as a high-speed (super-slow motion) video microscopy instrument for single-cell analyses of fast activities such as action potentials and contraction, used with human stem cell-derived brain, heart, muscle and other cell types. It is paired with Vala’s CyteSeer software for single-cell analysis.
No quantitative specifications are reproduced here. Vala Sciences does not publish resolution, imaging rate, wavelength ranges or plate capacity figures on its public pages, and inventing them would be worse than their absence. Supported methods
Section titled “Supported methods”- Scan plate — run a scan on the plate presented
- Open nest to robot access position — move the nest out so a robot can place or collect the plate
- Close door — close the instrument after loading
The nest and door operations are the reason the top-load configuration matters. A robot cannot place a plate into an instrument whose nest is parked inside it, so a transfer into the IC200 is a sequence — open the nest, transfer, close the door, scan — not a single move. Build that into the method rather than assuming the instrument will present itself.

Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- The instrument must be reachable from the Revolution host at the configured URL.
- The scan protocol the schedule expects must already be set up on the instrument.
- The nest’s travel must be clear of the robot’s approach path, and the robot must not attempt a transfer before the nest has reached its access position.
